CRICUT FATHER’S DAY CAKE TOPPER

April 29, 2019 by Paula W

Father’s Day is coming up in June, and I say, it’s never too early to start finding gift ideas. After all, Dad isn’t always the easiest person make or buy gifts for! This year, I wanted to do something really special and I started brainstorming things about my dad. Well, they say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and when it comes to my dad (probably yours too!), that is so true! What dad wouldn’t get a smile on his face when he saw a homemade cake (or even his favorite store-bought kind!), topped with this really adorable Cricut Father’s Day Cake Topper? You’ll find the file for the cake topper on our exclusive die cutting membership website Makers Gonna Learn. With all of the amazing cut files, fonts, and project inspiration there, all you have to do is get out your Cricut machine and start crafting!

  • Cricut Maker
  • Yellow Vinyl
  • Blue Cardstock
  • Weeding Tool Set
  • Transfer Paper
  • Boxed Cake Mix
  • Cake Plate
  • Lollipop Sticks
  • Frosting
  • Offset Spatula
  • Scotch Tape
  1. Mix and bake your cake according to the package directions unless you have a favorite recipe.
  2. While your cake is baking get crafty. Size and cut your cardstock to be the base of your ties. Then use yellow vinyl to cut the details of the ties.
  3. Weed your tie details and add transfer paper to easily apply them to your cardstock tie bases. Carefully remove the transfer paper.
  4. Use simple scotch tape to tape the lollipop sticks onto the back of your ties.
  5. Once your cake is out of the oven and cooled place it on your cake plate and with your frosting and an offset spatula ice your cake.
  6. Now, stick your ties into the cake and surprise your dad!

CRICUT FATHER’S DAY GIFT IDEA

April 29, 2019 by Paula W

Confession time: I’m not always as on the ball as I’d like to be when ti comes to Father’s Day. I have all these plans of being really creative and doing something super special for my dad and then life gets busy. At the last minute, I just end up buying him a gift card for his favorite restaurant. Not this year! I’m being really organized and getting my Father’s Day gift ideas together good and early. And lucky you, I’m going to share them here so you can be ready for Dad’s big day too! This Cricut Father’s Day gift is perfect for any dad! The design came from our amazing membership website Makers Gonna Learn. You will find more than 200 cut files and over 70 fonts there, with new ones added every month. You’ve got to check it out – you’re going to just love it! You’ll love this fun project too so be sure to check it out below.

  • Cricut Maker
  • Light Blue and Dark Blue Vinyl
  • Transfer paper
  • Weeding Tool Set
  • Canvas
  1. Size and cut the design to fit well on your canvas. This is a multi-layered project so we made the large letters dark blue and the smaller letters light blue.
  2. Weed all of your letters once it’s finished cutting and add transfer paper to both of the designs.
  3. My advice would be to apply the smaller light blue letters first then apply the larger center letters. This way you can line the design up well and minimize the possibility of your letters peeling back up due to the transfer paper of the other design.
  4. Be sure to gently peel up the transfer paper making sure all the letters are well adhered.
  5. Now simply wrap and surprise your dad on Father’s Day!
