1. Paper Towel Dispenser for Vinyl Storage

Who knew a simple metal paper towel dispenser could solve your HTV and adhesive vinyl storage woes? Large rolls of vinyl can be tricky to store, but this dispenser keeps them neatly organized. You can use it for various colors of vinyl, transfer tape, or even ribbon. Just place it on a shelf, and voila! A budget-friendly and space-saving storage solution.

2. Index Dividers as Reusable Stencils

Those plastic index dividers you use in binders? They make incredible reusable stencils! The material is sturdy and works similarly to Mylar sheets. Simply cut out your desired design using your Cricut or a True Control craft knife, and you have a durable stencil perfect for painting wood signs, fabric, or walls.

3. Baby Powder for Weeding Glitter Vinyl

If you’ve ever struggled to see the cut lines on glitter vinyl, baby powder is your new best friend. Just sprinkle a little onto your cut design, gently rub it in, and watch as the cut lines magically become visible. After weeding, wipe away the excess powder before applying your vinyl.

4. Dollar Tree Sign Bases

Dollar Tree sells gold-framed signs that are perfect for making custom home decor. You can add vinyl lettering directly onto the surface or paint it with chalk paint and apply heat transfer vinyl (HTV) for a professional look. These frames are a fantastic base for wreaths, seasonal decorations, or custom door signs.

5. Odor Absorber as a Cricut Tool Holder

An unexpected storage hack! Those small odor absorbers with plastic holes in the lid make perfect holders for Cricut tools like weeding tools, scissors, and pens. Simply remove the beads, clean the container, and customize it with vinyl to match your craft space.

6. Napkin Decoupage on Wooden Crates

Napkins from Dollar Tree come in a variety of beautiful patterns, making them perfect for decoupage projects. Apply a layer of Mod Podge (or a non-toxic alternative like Maker’s Magic) to a wooden crate, separate the napkin layers, and press the top layer onto the surface. Once dry, gently sand the edges for a smooth finish. This is a great way to create custom storage boxes for craft supplies or home decor.

7. Frame Stand for Cutting Boards

Want to display your DIY cutting board signs? Remove the stand from an old Dollar Tree picture frame and hot glue it to the back of your wooden cutting board. This simple hack transforms it into a freestanding decorative sign without the need for additional supports.

8. Nail Polish Remover Pump for Rubbing Alcohol

In the beauty aisle, you’ll find nail polish remover pumps—these are perfect for dispensing rubbing alcohol when cleaning surfaces before applying vinyl. Just press a cotton pad on the pump, and it dispenses the right amount without mess or waste.

9. Use Baby Wipes to Clean Your Cutting Mat

It’s so easy to clean your cutting mat and make it sticky again with simple baby wipes. Keep them on hand in your craft room and you can just grab them whenever you need them. Wipe with a baby wipe in circular motions. Let it dry and the stickiness will be back!

10. Use a Salad Dressing Container for Weeding.

As you weed those tiny little pieces, pop them into this container as you go. This helps keep them from getting everywhere and sticking to everything. Once you’re done you can empty the container. Easy peasy!

11. Use an Embossing Stylus for Scoring in Your Machine.

Buy an embossing stylus from the dollar store. It has pink material to help grip the stylus at each end. We found that the finer tip worked best so using our True Control Knife, we made a slit in the pink material at that end so we could remove it. Now, it will fit into Clamp A of your Cricut machine and you can use it just as you would your Cricut scoring stylus.
