We always recommend cleaning it well with some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. This will remove any oils from your fingers, dust, and debris that can interfere with adhering your design properly.

Yes! It is always best to pre-wash them in case they shrink. Some fabric items also come with a coating on them (called sizing) that can interfere with adhering your design really well.
