Do I need to seal my vinyl projects?

June 10, 2021 by

For the most part, this is a personal choice. Unsealed vinyl on mugs and cars can last months or even years. It also depends on the products you use and where and how you are going to be using the item. Better quality vinyl will last longer. We don’t recommend sealing vinyl on clear items like glasses or mirrored items because there is no sealant that remains truly clear and invisible. There is no need to seal t-shirts and other fabric items – the exception to this is if you are making something like a garden flag and you want it to stand up to the elements better. Can you speed up the drying time of paint, stain, or sealant by using a hair dryer?

May 26, 2021 by

The simple answer is no. Trying to use a hair dryer to speed up the dryer time of paint or stain can cause it to dry unevenly. It may seem dry on the surface, but underneath, it is still wet. Applying vinyl on top of this could give you poor results and may not stick as well or as long as you’d like. You cannot speed up the drying time for sealant. If the instructions say it needs 28 days to cure, it needs 28 days to cure.

May 26, 2021 by

No. That’s one of the great things about Infusible Ink. It will never crack, peel, or flake. Because of the way it bonds to the surface, it really is permanent.

How should I care for shirts with HTV designs on them so they last as long as possible?

May 26, 2021 by

It’s best to wait at least 24 hours after applying your design before washing it. Do not dry clean. Turn the garment inside out before washing. Wash in cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Hang to dry or use a low heat setting on your dryer. Don’t use bleach. Do not iron directly over the vinyl.
