What is HTV?

When should I use removable vinyl?
All vinyl is technically removable - even the ones labeled permanent. Obviously, the type that is labeled as removable is much easier to remove though. When do I need to use transfer paper (also known as transfer tape) with my vinyl projects?
HTV has built-in transfer tape so you don't need to add it to those projects. Transfer tape cannot be used with Cricut Infusible Ink. -
Will Cricut vinyl stick to wood?

How do I use Heat Transfer Vinyl?

How do I know what side to lay my HTV on the mat?
Always place your HTV shiny side down on your cutting mat. -
How do I know how long to leave my EasyPress on the HTV?
This will vary from material to material. Your EasyPress comes with a chart that tells you the exact time and temperature for your surface material and the type of iron-on vinyl you’re using. For your convenience, we also have some handy EasyPress charts in our Cricut Reference Guide, free with your Makers Gonna Learn membership. With a Cricut EasyPress Mini, you should see bubbles forming on your heated vinyl. This is a good sign! It means the vinyl is adhering to your surface and indicate when you can stop pressing it. -

How do I know what temperature to set my Easypress at?
This will vary from material to material. Your EasyPress comes with a chart that tells you the exact time and temperature for your surface material and the type of iron-on vinyl you’re using. My HTV is bubbling: Is that okay?
When you see little bubbles forming as you heat your HTV, that is a good sign! It means it is adhering to your surface just as you want it to do. -

How do I know the difference between HTV and adhesive backed vinyl?
Your vinyl will come marked as to what type it is when you buy it, but once you have accumulated some scraps, you may have a hard time remembering which is which. We suggest that you write on the back of the scraps with a permanent marker so you always know which type of vinyl it is.
