Greeting Card Organization Idea

September 22, 2022 by Paula W

If you like to make and send greeting cards, you are going to LOVE this organization idea for them. We find that we have so many different ones for a variety of occasions that then when it’s time to send one out, it can be tough finding just the right one without digging through them all. This project eliminates that issue and keeps them neat and organized!

Card Organization

Step-by-step Instructions:

  1. Import the fonts and cut files downloaded from Makers Gonna Learn into Design Space.
  2. We are working with Basic Shapes today. The box we’re working with fits A2-sized cards perfectly. So, we’re making dividers for it using some rectangles. Grab a square, unlock it, and size it to the size you need for the divider. In our case, we’re using the size 4.25 x 5.5”.
  3. Grab another square. This is going to be the tab for the divider. You want to make sure that 3 of these will fit across the top of your dividers. The size we liked for ours was 1.38 x 0.907”.
  4. Duplicate the large rectangle so that you have 3 of them. Duplicate the small rectangle so that you have 3 of them as well.
  5. For the first divider, place your small rectangle at the top of the large one over to the left. Select both of these layers and choose Align, Left. This will ensure they are perfectly lined up. Select both again and Weld.
  6. For the second divider, repeat this, only use Align, Center Horizontally instead of Align, Left. Once again weld those two together.
  7. For the third divider, it’s the same process again, only you will use Align, Right.
  8. Open a text box and type in the words you want to put and select the font you want to use. You can change the spacing of the letters by using Letter Spacing. Size your labels to fit the tabs. We also made a larger one saying Cards for the whole box in general.
  9. You will need to create small white rectangles to fit the divider tabs for each of your words (the one saying Cards will be sized to fit the slot on the front of the box). Click both the rectangle and the word that goes on it to select them both. Click Flatten. Repeat for each of the labels.
  10. Go ahead and click Make It and print your labels. Once printed, place your printed labels onto your cutting mat. Load it into your machine to cut. Choose Heavy Cardstock for your material setting.
  11. For each of the tabbed dividers, load a piece of cardstock onto your cutting mat, choose for your material setting, load the mat into the machine, and cut.
  12. Pop the Cards label into the slot on the front of the box. For the other labels, you can glue them to the tabs and you’re all finished!

Upcycled Soda Bottle Cloche

September 22, 2022 by Paula W

Cut Files Used:

Ruffle Tree

Supply Links:

  • Cricut Explore Air 2
  • StandardGrip Mat
  • Cricut Basic Tool Set
  • Paint Brushes
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Wooden Round
  • Rainbow Cardstock

  • Lighter
  • Napkin Rings
  • Wooden Beads
  • Thick Jute
  • Faux Snow
  • Mod Podge
  • Green Paint
  • Skewers
Diy Cloche

Step-by-step Instructions:

  1. Go to Makers Gonna Learn to download the cut files you’ll be using for the project and import them to the Design Space.
  2. The first thing you want to do is ungroup the cut file.
  3. Select each layer one at a time and go up to the Linetype. Select Score on the drop-down menu. With both layers selected (the section of the tree and the scoreline), click Attach. You can then duplicate them to make as many as you need for the project, changing the sizes and colors if needed.
  4. Once you’re happy with your design, click “make it” and set the material to medium cardstock.
  5. Put the cardstock on the mat and load it into the machine to cut and score. Repeat as needed if you’re using different colors of cardstock. When all of them are done cutting, unload them from the machine and peel away the excess cardstock. Flip your mat over and peel it away from your cut pieces.
  6. Next, you want to fold each of the scoring lines. Use your bone folder to get really good creases.
  7. When they are all folded, put hot glue inside of it on the top one after the other and stack them to make a tree either from the biggest to the smallest or vice versa.
  8. Glue the wooden head to the wooden napkin rings and paint them green to make that nice bottle top.
  9. Get the soda bottle you’ll be using and cut off the top to use as the cloche. You can adjust the size as per your preferences. To make the bottom edge of the soda bottle nice and flat, you can use a lighter to heat it up and then flatten it down.
  10. For the bottle topper, we used a wooden napkin ring and a large bead painted and glued together. Lay the topper upside down on your table and then glue the top of the soda bottle to it so you don’t get hot glue running down into your bottle/cloche.
  11. Grab the wooden round (that you have already painted) and trace around the bottom edge of the soda bottle. This is to give you a border to work with. Paint on some Mod Podge and sprinkle some faux snow over. Glue in your chosen decorations (such as the trees and reindeer we show here).
  12. You can glue the cloche onto the base if you want or leave it so that it can be removed as you wish.
