Projects To Use Vinyl Scraps
Hey everyone! Today, we’re talking about Projects To Use Vinyl Scraps. I know you guys have a scrap bin full of vinyl and you are always looking for things to make out of them. Well, maybe you have a few hours this week and you’re like “I want to dive into that scrap bin but I don’t know exactly what type of surfaces I could use my scraps on!”
Here’s one to get you started. Add vinyl to a leather notebook quickly and easily!
So, we’ve looked through all of our scrap bins and picked out some of the most common sizes of scraps we have in there. We have gathered some surfaces that are very easy for you guys to grab from around the house or your local dollar store. These will help you get inspired whether you’re wanting to you test out Snap Mat with your iOS app or if you’re wanting to maybe tackle a very large multi-layer vinyl project.
Projects To Use Vinyl Scraps

NOTEBOOKS
These notebooks are really awesome to be able to use these vinyl scraps on. This would be a great way to use multi-layers of different scrap pieces to create a really great project.

You can find these notebooks everywhere. We got this one up from Michaels but you can find them at dollar stores, Target, Walmart, and tons of other stores. These are really affordable and super nice quality – perfect for adding some vinyl on.
PHOTO FRAME
Next is an inexpensive plastic photo frame. I love these photo frames. They’re super handy and you can do so much with them. I’ve seen lots of videos (and I’ve even made one myself) where you turn a photo frame like this and you will just put a piece of scrapbooking paper in the frame.

Then put sticky notes to one side and put a vinyl design and a little inspirational quote over to the other side. It’s a really handy idea! Or if you want to use it as a traditional frame, these plastic photo frames are really handy and you’re going to be able to take advantage of your scraps to a whole new extent.
PHONE CASES
For those tiny pieces of vinyl, I highly recommend picking up some phone cases to put it on. You can find these at Dollar Tree, Walmart, Target, and pretty much everywhere you shop. It’s easy to find some inexpensive ones that are under five dollars and they work with vinyl really well

So, pick up some in really cool colors that can coordinate with some of your scrap pieces of vinyl. You’ll be able to deck out your entire phone case with something really fun. You can even change it out every month or you could do different phone cases if you want! Being able to customize a phone case such a great gift idea!

ENVELOPES
Next up, you can always use your scrap pieces to put on envelopes. Use this to address the envelope that way if you want or you could add a few fun little prints and cut decals on it or for your next greeting card, thank-you card or anything like that.
GLASS CONTAINERS
Then there are these adorable glass pieces that I love. You can find these at the Dollar Tree and of course, they’re really affordable. You could put some writing on it and fill it up with your friend’s favorite candy. Add some ribbon and put it in a cellophane bag to really pump up a gift idea. It would be super fun!

COASTERS
If you have some larger pieces of vinyl and you want to make a wedding gift, how about using some coasters? I’ve been dying to have a friend get married or get a house or something so I can make them some custom little leather coasters because these are super adorable! You could even use heat transfer vinyl since they’re leather!

T-SHIRT POCKETS
This is a really great, unique way to repurpose your heat transfer vinyl since if you only have a few small pieces, chances are you’re not going to put it on a t-shirt. But if you do want to use it on a t-shirt, here’s a great idea. You could add a great little touch to pocket t-shirts with smaller pieces of heat transfer vinyl, We love this idea!
MUGS
Next up are mugs. You can get as trendy as you want with the actual mug but we are always looking at our scrap bin first before opening a new roll of vinyl or anything like that. Many mug designs are perfectly designed I think for scraps.

CUTTING BOARD
We made a decorative cutting board with our vinyl scraps. This is a tiny little cutting board. Obviously, you’d want to deck this out more as a decor piece rather than for actual functionality because if you’re chopping on here with vinyl it’s probably not gonna work out.
So, if you want to make some decorative cutting boards to display in your home, on shelves, or anything like that, this is a great idea to also use up those scraps.

EASEL BOARDS
We absolutely love these wooden easel boards. One side is dry erase and the other side is chalkboard. You can often find them at many different stores but if you’re ever having trouble finding them, you can always get them at Michaels.

These are great because you can go to our organization collection and add words to make this a weekly calendar or menu plan or something like that.
Hope you guys learned something new today. Be sure to let us know in the comments down below what you make with your vinyl scraps. We’re dying to know!
