TTF stands for True Type Font and OTF stands for Open Type Font. These are file extensions that indicate that the file is a font. You can use either of these in Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio.
If you used Attach for your cursive font, each of the letters will be treated as a separate layer, and every part – even those that connect, will be cut out. You need to use Weld for cursive fonts to turn the text into one continuous line. Learn more here: https://makersgonnalearn.com/using-cursive-in-cricut-design-space/

A PNG file is a graphic image, while an SVG file is a vector image. SVGs have multiple layers in them, allowing you to ungroup and make changes to them easily. PNGs are a single layer, so they aren’t as customizable as SVGs. We generally use SVGs for basic cut designs and PNGs for Print then Cuts.

We were really impressed with the performance of Crayola markers in our Cricut Maker. Remember that if you use an off-brand product before your warranty is up, you could actually make your warranty void. We always recommend cleaning it well with some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. This will remove any oils from your fingers, dust, and debris that can interfere with adhering your design properly.
Yes! It is always best to pre-wash them in case they shrink. Some fabric items also come with a coating on them (called sizing) that can interfere with adhering your design really well.
You can find those here: https://makersgonnalearn.com/our-favorite-craft-products/
Here you go: https://amzn.to/3bB57jJ
Yes, they are!
It’s important to note that there are 3 types of Cricut pens. 1) Basic pens 2) Cricut Joy pens 3) Cricut Infusible Ink pens. Cricut Infusible Ink pens are permanent once they have been applied and heated according to product instructions. The ink from the other two types of pens are considered permanent once the ink has dried.

You can learn all about the Cricut Mug Press here: https://makersgonnalearn.com/all-about-the-cricut-mug-press/
For the most part, this is a personal choice. Unsealed vinyl on mugs and cars can last months or even years. It also depends on the products you use and where and how you are going to be using the item. Better quality vinyl will last longer. We don’t recommend sealing vinyl on clear items like glasses or mirrored items because there is no sealant that remains truly clear and invisible. There is no need to seal t-shirts and other fabric items – the exception to this is if you are making something like a garden flag and you want it to stand up to the elements better. Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYgCSO7ozXE
The simple answer is no. Trying to use a hair dryer to speed up the dryer time of paint or stain can cause it to dry unevenly. It may seem dry on the surface, but underneath, it is still wet. Applying vinyl on top of this could give you poor results and may not stick as well or as long as you’d like. You cannot speed up the drying time for sealant. If the instructions say it needs 28 days to cure, it needs 28 days to cure.
No. That’s one of the great things about Infusible Ink. It will never crack, peel, or flake. Because of the way it bonds to the surface, it really is permanent.
Here are 3 different ways that we like to use depending on the purpose of the item and what it’s made of: https://makersgonnalearn.com/how-to-seal-vinyl-decals/

You can learn how here: https://makersgonnalearn.com/make-vinyl-mugs-dishwasher-safe/
This article explains how to do it – https://makersgonnalearn.com/how-to-seal-printable-htv/
Hand wash only. Not dishwasher safe. Do not soak. Do not microwave. If you’re making these to sell or give as gifts, we have cut file tags that you can include with these care instructions on them: https://makersgonnalearn.com/cut_files/wine-glass-care-instructions/ https://makersgonnalearn.com/cut_files/tumbler-care-instuctions/ https://makersgonnalearn.com/cut_files/mug-care-instructions/
It’s best to wait at least 24 hours after applying your design before washing it. Do not dry clean. Turn the garment inside out before washing. Wash in cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Hang to dry or use a low heat setting on your dryer. Don’t use bleach. Do not iron directly over the vinyl.
Yes, you can. Here’s how: https://makersgonnalearn.com/how-to-seal-printable-htv/
Great question! Everyone wants to know how to seal their vinyl projects. In this video tutorial, we’re going to share three different ways you can seal your vinyl decals.
It will but you may not get the results you’re hoping for. Check out our video here: https://makersgonnalearn.com/videos/using-cricut-infusible-ink-on-dark-colors-will-it-work/
You can use it on Cricut brand aluminum. You can check out our tutorial here: https://makersgonnalearn.com/videos/diy-recipe-box-with-cricut-using-infusible-ink-on-aluminum/
In general, no, but we do have a hack here to work around that if you really want to put it on a cotton item. https://makersgonnalearn.com/videos/how-to-apply-layered-infusible-ink-on-cotton-with-cricut/
We got some really good results with some off-brand thermal markers, Check out our comparison video here: https://makersgonnalearn.com/videos/cricut-infusible-ink-markers-vs-other-permanent-thermal-transfer-markers/
We don’t recommend it. We also don’t recommend using a Cricut EasyPress Mini. For best results, you need something large enough to cover your whole design at once. Learn more here: https://makersgonnalearn.com/cricut-infusible-ink-cricut-easypress-vs-household-iron/
We tested them on both laser printer paper and regular copy paper. We’re happy to report that they work beautifully with both! Learn more here: https://makersgonnalearn.com/videos/laser-printer-paper-vs-regular-printer-paper-with-cricut-infusible-ink-markers/
We advise using some heat-resistant tape around the edges of your design on items such as mugs and coasters to ensure that the ink is making full contact with the surface.
If it’s a nonporous item such as a mug, we like to clean them with some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. Be sure to let it dry thoroughly before applying your ink to it. With fabric items, we like to use a lint roller on them to pick up any threads or other debris that might interfere with a smooth ink transfer.
No. You can damage the ink with traditional weeding tools. Instead, we advise that you use your fingers as much as possible.
Often this is because you handled the ink too much. We advise touching it as little as you can. When you do touch it, you might want to wear some cotton gloves, especially if you are prone to clammy hands. We also advise using a brayer to adhere the Infusible Ink sheets to your cutting mat to limit how much you have to touch it.

We have had success with some off-brand products! Here are some we recommend: https://makersgonnalearn.com/materials-to-use-with-cricut-infusible-ink/ and https://makersgonnalearn.com/do-i-really-need-cricut-brand-infusible-ink-blanks/
In order to get the ink to bond properly with the fabric, you need to use shirts that contain at least 65% polyester. The higher the polyester in the shirt, the deeper and more saturated the colors will be. For example, in a shirt that is 100% polyester, black will be a true black. In shirts with less polyester in them, the black will be more of a gray.
Here’s a great video telling you all about it: https://makersgonnalearn.com/videos/how-to-use-cricut-infusible-ink-markers/

With a Cricut Explore or Maker, you can use a Cricut Scoring Stylus. There are also Cricut Scoring Wheels (single scoring or double scoring) available for use with the Cricut Maker only. We generally prefer to use the Scoring Stylus no matter which machine we are using. You can find more information about these tools here: https://makersgonnalearn.com/cricut-blades-and-tools-explained/
It depends on the thickness of the leather. With the Cricut faux leather, you can use your fine point blade since it is so thin. The Cricut Maker can cut genuine leather up to 7 oz. thick with the Knife Blade. If using real leather up to 3 oz. thick, you can use your Deep Cut Blade instead.
The Cricut Explore can cut craft foam, foil acetate, plastic grocery bags, mylar, stencil film, and transparency. The Cricut Maker can cut everything the Explore can as well as plastic canvas and plastic packaging.

When working with HTV, you must mirror your design or when it is time to apply it to your surface, it will be backwards.
